Defining "Otherkin"
2006-01-21 04:30 pmNew comic will appear on January 23rd, 2006.
Yes, it's a brand-new, fully-finished comic this time! I've been working with the time management schedules, as promised, and it's helped me work the comic into my time a bit better. I found that laying out, drawing, lettering, and inking today's comic took five hours total... not counting the preliminary sketches, and the cleanup and tinting that I did after I scanned it into the computer. Writing the script doesn't even count into the time in this instance, since it's a guest script. Thanks, Baxil!

Date: 2006-01-24 04:29 am (UTC)My favorite collection of Zen koans is Zen Stories to Tell Your Neighbors, because it includes interpretations made by many different people. It's interesting to see the different things that people can get out of the same koan.

Date: 2006-01-22 11:01 pm (UTC)As for the comic:
*chuckles*
Nice script, Bax. Nice execution, Orion. It seems to be that Therithere is slowly developing a reoccuring cast. That would be the same gryphon and wolf we've seen before, yes? There's something familiar about the faces of the elf and dragon, as well. That is a dragon, yes? I'm going by the style of the ear.
This comic seems like it could be a compression of a long discussion on a forum or an IRC room between the 'kin featured. Well, with snarky commentary added.
Steps One thru X-1. (Something that makes sense)
Step X (Most crucial step. Ommitted, or replaced by ???)
Step X+1, Final Step: Profit!
I always did find that format amusing. ^_^
Sidenote: if that *is* a dragon kin as I'm assuming, I rather like your portrayal of him/her. (sorry, on a lousy slow computer and can't go back to check gender.) I often imagine a different set of ears on myself is the reason why. Something larger, and mobile, suited for emoting with.

Date: 2006-01-23 02:04 am (UTC)The humanoid in the foreground with the strange ears previously appeared as a faerie, but the wings didn't make it into this comic. (Due to artistic licence and forgetfulness, not injury.) You're right, though, those are very dragonish ears.
Don't bother trying to check the gender of any of the recurring characters; so far, most of them are indistinct. :) I'm leaving that detail to be figured out later, as their personalities develop with further appearances.
