Tea being related to everything reminded me of a good book. A View From Saturday It's about these 4 kids who end up meeting together at their teacher's house each Saturday and discussing recent events and having tea (at tea time of course). One of the things they relate tea to is knowledge: People think that the tea they have is so good they aren't willing to empty their cup and get some new tea. And thus it grows cold and isn't good any more. (I did that from memory, the way the it's done in the book is probably much better.)
