I'm finding that it's easier to eat veggie-ish than I first thought...I can't stand beans or potatoes. But with soy, it's really not that hard. And there's lots more protein in vegetables than we usually think -- look at broccoli. *^_^*
Someday, when my planning abilities are better, I might try going veggie again. Last time I tried, I lasted less than an hour before I forgot I wasn't supposed to eat meat - and had a hamburger. I was halfway through the burger when I remembered. Oops... :P I figure that's a pretty good indication that going vegetarian probably isn't the best thing for me right now. ;)
On the subject of going vegetarian--I could go without meat. I don't think it would bother me, I love vegetables--black beans and corn and spinach and romaine lettuce, bell-peppers, carrots, and cucumbers to name a few. My friends tease me about this.
On the other hand, a really good steak? Like I could say no to that. Chicken or Turkey soup cooked with the leftovers from a roasted or rotiesserie bird the next day? Glorious. I like the taste of meat, and I don't really see a reason to deprive myself of it.
I'm aware that most animals raised for food exist in very poor conditions, are given growth hormones, and so on and so forth, but it doesn't weigh heavilly on my conscience enough to change my actions for the most part.
I think the most important thing about food for me is quality or freshness, be it vegetable, animal, grain or fruit. Mostly, I just avoid food that I think is too processed, and the like.
I'd say I'm about the same. A good steak (meaning as rare as I can healthily get it)...*drools and flexes toe-claws*... ... ... *Shakes his head* Erm, sorry. And vegatables, I do like my vegies, but I'd never be able to live on them alone.
I try to avoid processed stuff, but I have a bit of a sweet tooth. ^..^;
